Table for PS and TK
When the client built two town houses on a suburban block a large Silky Oak tree had to be removed. The timber was cut into slabs then dried over a two year period. Meanwhile the town houses were completed and a design for the table discussed. The client liked the work of architect Eero Saarinen. With Saarinen's curved concrete forms as inspiration we settled on a wing shaped surface held aloft by staunchion like 16mm thick laser cut steel legs. An inlay defines the location of these legs through the top surface, while the legs are also removable for transportation.
Although in a different form, the Silky Oak still graces the same site.
