I would like to share with you my interest in photography. I am fond of outdoor photography because I have to be there at the right time to get the image, that's part of the joy, but that can be difficult to schedule into this busy world. Studio work allows complete control which is a different experience. I started out with a film camera a long time ago but its all digital these days. Capturing the image is only half of the process now, with computer editing being at least as important a skill, and there's always another trick to learn.
In my opinion one of the great joys in life is the experience of wild places and natural phenomenon. The grand natural visa is obviously a good candidate for landscape photography, however closer inspection reveals all manner of events and experiences rich in imagery ready to record.
There is now scientific evidence supporting the benefits of these types of outdoor experiences, which result in measurable differences in brainwave patterns. I liken it to a nurturing relationship with the natural environment, and hope some of my photographs convey a part of that experience.
The entire landmass of Earth is now mapped and categorized into a framework of economic or conservation value. Original nature yields at the hand of human intervention toward agriculture, mining, civil infra structure, industry and urban areas. This can lead to disturbed landscapes that have decayed or are in transition from one use to another. I find these fascinating rather than beautiful (although these qualities are not mutually exclusive). My aim is to make images that retain this intricate fascination with a place.
While photography remains mainly a pursuit of self expression, I also have historically performed some commercial work now and then.
