COMMISSIONING BESPOKE FURNITURE.
Randal Kohn is both a creative designer and a high quality maker.
I specialise in highly crafted contemporary objects and furnishings that often utilise digital manufacturing processes along side traditional techniques. I work directly with design professionals and private clients who seek something that celebrates timber and what can be done with it.
Engagement. I work with you to establish a brief that meets your individual requirements regarding design style, functionality and cost. After years of industry experience I realise the importance of this first step, it's absolutely critical in securing the best outcome. For this reason, and because bespoke work is so much about you the commissioning person I prefer to have an informal chat right at the start and not rely on anonymous email quotes. Some clients like to be very active in the design process and others not so much. My job is to listen carefully, discuss, then set about sketching up some initial ideas. From these we choose our favorite approaches and work through to a design resolution. You can ask me for a design only or the design plus make.
Making it. I have been making things from childhood and have the hang of it by now. My key material is timber; we have reached an understanding over the years, it has told me what it likes and doesn't like. Originally a metal worker, I can incorporate other materials in commissioned work.
Of course, I would be delighted to discuss your project with you in an initial no cost consultation.
Please email, call me, or leave an sms with your details and I will follow up with a phone call.
